Great balls of fur! It’s finally here!
At last, the feline—the feline who is the epitome of grace, nobility, and perfection—has graciously agreed to share his story. But not just any story. His story; his truth.
However, Debussy's tail—er, tale—is not the typical feline novel. Debussy, being both kingly and opinionated, shares his honest perspective of what it is truly like to be in the constant "unbearable" presence of his humans.
Hearken to his story as he shares with you the joys, the terrors, and the sorrows surrounding several episodes of his tremendously difficult life as an indoor cat.

As a life long cat lover, I got to dislike both the book and the main character. If all the "royalty such as I" was edited out, the book would shrink to half the volume. At least it became so predictably repetitive, you know when to start skipping about one and a half, to two pages at a time. Being declawed is also a very cruel act, the author offered no explanation, or excuse to such cruelty to her cat, at the end of this book. Would never recommend this to anyone. Any author who willingly has their cat declawed, includes it a story, but omits the true pain and suffering inflicted, should be banned for sale. Shame on the author and the vet who would perform such an atrocity!Product details

A Walk In My Paws edition by Claire Dubois Crafts Hobbies Home eBooks Reviews
Since I am acquainted with Debussy and his humans, I found "A Walk in my Paws" most enjoyable. His story was entertaining; I'm sure there are many cats who would like to relate their tales!
This was a fun book to read. To be honest, I had never read a book from an animal's point of view before, so I thought it would be interesting.
First of all, I thought the author did a great job presenting a feline's point of view. "A Walk in My Paws" is a brilliant title for this reason. I also liked the witty insertions of cat-like phrases such as, "oh, the infelinity!" (instead of "oh, the inhumanity!") or how the cat describes the humans' utters as "meows." It takes a lot of skill to effectively present the perspective of another character, much more an animal, so I thought this was well done.
I also liked the overall writing style of the book - great diction all throughout (yes, I'm a bit of a vocab. nerd) and grammatically impeccable.
My absolute favorite moments in the book were the anecdotes told by the cat, Debussy, that were made humorous because of his misunderstandings. For example, at one point, Debussy is alarmed by a vacuum that he mistakenly assumes is a monster of some kind. His descriptions of the machine and consequent reactions are absolutely hilarious.
One complaint I've heard about this books is of the cat's overly pompous perspective. I can see why a person would dislike the cat for his self-inflated monologues, but I believe the writer used this flaw for witty, ironic purposes.
I realized by the end of this book that Debussy's major character flaw can be taken two ways by the reader 1) The reader could choose to despise Debussy or 2) The reader could take the opportunity to realize how they too have inadvertently adopted a similar perspective on others.
[**medium spoiler alert**]
This second challenge is hinted by the author in the epilogue when the "listener" ironically begins to think like the cat.

So with that, I believe Debussy's flaw was a brilliant plan by the author to emulate the nature of human weaknesses and prompt us to live differently.
But don't take my word for it - read it for yourself! (yes, I just used that cheesy Reading Rainbow line - I couldn't help it).
I was all ready to dive into an enjoyable cat tale from the inside out. Whoa! If the cat really hated everything as much as indicated - it would have walked. Probably the worst attempt at getting inside a cats thought's ever. If any cat I know had the bad attitude reflected by this one, I can't imagine that it would not go find another life. Lame attempt. Please don't write another!
